St Mary Magdalene Catholic Primary school, a single-form entry school in Bexhill wishes to appoint an experienced individual/Deputy Headteacher to assist in leading this inspirational school into the next stage of its development. Currently rated ‘Good’ by OFSTED and outstanding in its most recent Catholic School Inspection, the Governors are seeking a committed Catholic to lead the school to new heights of educational excellence.

The post holder will have 0.6 FTE classroom teaching responsibilities and be someone who can inspire our excellent team of staff to achieve the highest quality learning and teaching for our pupils, whilst maintaining a child-centred approach.

Salary: Leadership Scale L6 - L10 1.0FTE  
(0.6 FTE Teaching & 0.4FTE Leadership Responsibilities)

The job is to:

  • Continue to improve the progress of all our pupils through effective leadership of the school.  
  • Lead the professional development of all members of the school team, enthusing and inspiring colleagues from your deep understanding of best practice.
  • Explore opportunities to engage with national initiatives. 
  • Jointly lead the school through inspections and external audits. 
  • Contribute to the daily management of all aspects of school life and have sole responsibility for the school in the absence of the Head. 
  • Be the RE subject leader for the school.
  • Develop the curriculum with subject leaders and teachers to ensure it remains challenging and exciting for the pupils and integrated and coherent across the school.

The successful candidate will be:

  • A current senior leader with an ambitious attitude for achievement for our pupils and the school.
  • An experienced, well-qualified teacher who knows what excellent teaching looks like and how to develop it in others.
  • Looking for their next challenge both personally and professionally.
  • Committed to engaging with the staff and taking them thorough change positively, building on the good practice that already exists as well as implementing new ideas. 
  • Prepared to ask the difficult questions and deliver solutions.
