Food Bank Assembly

Following our Harvest festival celebrations in October, we invited a local representative (Anne Campbell) from the Bexhill Food Bank to come in and give an assembly on the work of the Food bank. She also told the children how their collections of food would help local people. This was handled very sensitively knowing that some families in our school have recipients of the local Food bank.

Diocesan Grandparents’ Week 2015

All the classes reflected on the importance of Grandparents and the gifts that they can bring to their families.  The children wrote about their grandparents and what made them special to them. They also wrote prayers for those grandparents who may live far away or have died.

The children in each class helped to plan and prepare for their class Liturgy. They wrote their own prayers and reflections, painted pictures of their grandparents and sang hymns using sign language.

After the Liturgy the special guests were taken on a tour of the school by the children and enjoyed time with their grandchildren over tea and biscuits in the hall.

This was a very special week for our school community, where the older generation of our families were warmly welcomed and thanked for the important role they play as part of our school family.

Annual Cricket Match

In September, the school community held their second family Cricket match. This was open to all members of our school community and was a great day out for the families. After the cricket match there was a chance for children and parents to take part in tug of war, enjoy a picnic and play games. It was a very successful and fun event.

MacMillan Coffee Fundraiser

St Mary Magdalene’s joined with people all over the country to help raise money for MacMillan cancer support. We were overwhelmed with the donations of cakes brought in by the parents, many of which were homemade. During the afternoon, families were invited in to share the fundraising event with their children and the school community.
